Larrikins

From a fine, entertainment journal:

Larrikins, which is Aussie slang for “maverick” or “rebel,” is digging deep Down Under. DreamWorks Animation has culled together an all-Aussie cast of Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts, Rose Byrne and Ben Mendelsohn to join previously announced fellow Aussie Margot Robbie as voice actors for its new film.

Tim Minchin and Chris Miller are directing the animal rock ‘n’ roll musical. Minchin, composer-lyricist of the five-time Tony-winning Matilda The Musical, is composing the music for Larrikins. The film is expected to shift over from Fox to Universal for release, given the NBCUni acquisition of DWA two months ago. It was originally scheduled to hit theaters on February 16, 2018. ...

Last time I was at DWA's Glendale campus, staffers told me Larrikins has good buzz around the studio, and that development has been solid. It might be a good time for DreamWorks Animation to roll out a musical. They Have enjoyed a surge in popularity.

Nobody thought Frozen would be a billion dollar property when it got started: Who wants another musical Disney fairy tale?".

But apparently a lot of people do.
